Weight loss is usually accompanied by an unintential loss of lean mass. Resistance exercise and high protein intakes are recommended to preserve muscle mass during a diet. In this talk, I'll discuss protein recommendations to maintain, or even gain, muscle tissue while dieting.

Dr. Jorn Trommelen

Jorn earned his MSc in Nutrition and Health with top honors at Wageningen University & Research Centre. He then obtained his PhD in Muscle Metabolism at Maastricht University, at one of the leading laboratories in that field. He now works at Maastricht University as Assistant Professor. His research focusses on protein ingestion to optimize post-exercise muscle protein synthesis. In addition, he investigates carbohydrate metabolism during and after exercise.
